Peritoneal Dialysis
 

Welcome to the Peritoneal Dialysis project page!

The aims of the work of the peritoneal dialysis consultant are:

  • To provide a wide platform for peritoneal dialysis data exchange (in collaboration with the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis ISPD
  • To promote a greater understanding of peritoneal dialysis among renal care professionals
  • To promote self management of patients and peritoneal dialysis as a home-dialysis treatment
  • To formulate standards for peritoneal dialysis training
  • To collaborate in research and education projects, among others in activities about self management and predialysis education

Activities of the consultant  have started in the autumn of 2008.

On 6th of September 2009 the English version of the handbook “Peritoneal Dialysis, a Guide to Clinical Practice” was launched at the 38th EDTNA/ERCA International Conference in Hamburg. Translation in other European languages are planned (click here pdf).
EDTNA/ERCA Members can download or order a free copy. Non-EDTNA/ERCA Members can order a copy: the costs are € 15.

The objectives for 2010/2011 are:

  • Launching of supplements to the handbook about important peritoneal dialysis issues
  • Run sessions on peritoneal dialysis at the conference in Ireland 18-21 September 2010
  • Promote peritoneal dialysis as a home-treatment by other publications and seminars
