Peritoneal Dialysis

Welcome to the Peritoneal Dialysis project page!

The aims of the work of the peritoneal dialysis consultant and colleagues are:

  • To exchange data about peritoneal dialysis (in collaboration with the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis ISPD)
  • To promote a greater understanding of peritoneal dialysis among renal care professionals
  • To promote self management of patients and peritoneal dialysis as a home-dialysis treatment
  • To formulate standards for peritoneal dialysis training
  • To collaborate in research and education projects, among others in activities about self management and predialysis education

The handbook “Peritoneal Dialysis, a Guide to Clinical Practice” is launched in 2009 and is at this moment translated in Spanish and Dutch. Translation in other European languages are planned (click here pdf).

EDTNA/ERCA Members can download or order a free copy. Non-EDTNA/ERCA Members can order a copy: the costs are € 15.
The objectives for 2011-2012 are:

  • Launching of supplements to the handbook about important peritoneal dialysis issues. The plan for 2012  is to develop a training guide for PD and the elderly. At this moment we are looking for sponsoring
  • Run sessions on peritoneal dialysis at the conferences of the EDTNA/ERCA
  • Promote peritoneal dialysis as a home-treatment by other publications and seminars
