Welcome to the Peritoneal Dialysis page!

The aims of the work of the Peritoneal Dialysis consultant are:

  • To exchange data about Peritoneal Dialysis
  • To promote a greater understanding of Peritoneal Dialysis among renal care professionals
  • To promote self-management in Peritoneal Dialysis patients as a home-dialysis treatment
  • To formulate standards for Peritoneal Dialysis training
  • To collaborate in research and education projects among others in activities about self-management and predialysis education

The handbook “Peritoneal Dialysis, a Guide to Clinical Practice” was launched in 2009, and it has been translated into Spanish, Italian, and Dutch.

The objectives for 2013-2014 are:

  • Launching educational materials regarding important Peritoneal Dialysis issues at an advanced level
  • Developing a training guide for PD and to produce regular educational materials about PD on the EDTNA/ERCA web
  • Running sessions on peritoneal dialysis at the conferences of the EDTNA/ERCA 
  • Promoting PD as a home-treatment through other publications and seminars
