2001/4 EDTNA/ERCA Journal Club Discussion Summary

The November 2001 EDTNA/ERCA Renal Care Journal Club discussed the paper entitled 'Year 2000 Home Haemodialysis: a new approach to an old treatment' by Phillip LUNTS ( United Kingdom ) - EDTNA/ERCA Journal XXVII,n° 2 April-June 2001. ISSN 1019-083x.

There is no doubt that Home Haemodialysis (HHD) is and will become again a more pronounced valuable treatment option in Renal Care, next to in centre HD,PD and TX.

With a growing population in need of Renal Replacement Therapy of about 7-9% yearly worldwide and the actual economical restrains, we will have to be "creative" in offering best fit treatment to our patients "matching the appropriate modality to the appropriate period in a patients' dialysis career", without loosing quality !

A balance is to be found.

This paper was discussed and circulated in a group of 460 JC Members within the world.
