The PEAK Programme - A report from the Czech Republic

The EDTNA/ERCA is delighted that in collaboration with Roche, the third Promoting Excellence in Anaemia and the Kidney (PEAK) workshop in the Czech Republic was held during the last weekend in January.

The programme started the first evening with a challenging quiz on Chronic Kidney Disease, presented by Maria Cruz Casal. The following morning, the Key Note Speaker, Dr Vlasta Dočkalová gave an excellent presentation on erythropoietin biosimilars. This was followed by delegates giving presentations as to how anaemia is managed within their own units. Other lectures regarding anaemia included the physiology of erythropoiesis and long acting versus short acting erythropoietin stimulating agents.

During the weekend, two skills master classes were facilitated by John Sedgewick and Lesley Bennett. The first involved the delegates answering a questionnaire that highlighted their leadership style. The second looked at change management and delegates were provided with scenarios and asked to develop strategies that would help them manage the change.

The evaluation of the meeting highlighted how much the delegates had enjoyed and valued the meeting. The Faculty would like to thank all of the delegates for their hard work and input throughout the weekend. In particular, a special mention must be given to Jitka Pancířová, Faculty Chair and EDTNA/ERCA President and to Dr. Helena Pikartová from Roche, Czech Republic for their tireless support and help in producing another successful Czech PEAK.
