Key/Link Members
Become an active Member in your region and join a stimulating surrounding with active colleagues from all over Europe.
As a Key Member you will be:
- The representative of EDTNA/ERCA in your country
- The link between the National EDTNA/ERCA Members and the Executive Committee
- Responsible for the progress of EDTNA/ERCA strategies on a national level
- Organising EDTNA/ERCA educational events
- Responsible for the recruitment of new Members
- In charge of the yearly budget and activity plan

Executive Committee Member
(EC)
The Executive Committee (EC) is the body elected by the Membership to manage, direct and represent the Association and is responsible for all actions and decisions of the Association. As an EC member you can be part and contribute to this exiting activity.
Executive Committee Members must:

Be a current Member
- Be able to communicate in writing and orally in the English language.
- Not hold an elected position in another national or international renal care related association, society or similar organization.
- Have the ability and approval to devote discretionary time to fulfill the obligations of an Executive Committee Member.
- The ability to use modern office software and electronic mail including word processing, spreadsheet and graphic presentation applications.
Recommended Qualifications for an Executive Member are:
- Managerial and/or financial experience, training, knowledge and skills.
- More than two years membership in EDTNA/ERCA and have prior experience in another volunteer position within the Association.
- Have broad experience and knowledge of nephrology care in Europe

Scientific Programme Committee Member

Minimum criteria necessary:

- Have good worldwide networking connections across all Nephrology Care disciplines
- Have the ability to devote discretionary time to fulfill the obligations

Journal Club Manager (JCM)
Title: Journal Editor.
Summary:
The Principal function of the EDTNA/ERCA Journal Editor is the overall co-ordination of the production and publication of the EDTNA/ERCA Journal of Renal Care with annual supplements and the International Conference Abstract Book.
Responsible to: The Journal Editor reports to the President.
Appointed by: The Journal Editor is appointed by the President.
Term:
The term of office is for a period of three (3) years from 1 September until 31 August with a maximum further three (3) years. Additional time might be added upon request by the Executive Committee and the exact period should be agreed and declared at least 6 months before the end of the current term and agreed at the discretion of the Executive Committee. Notice of resignation is required at least 6 months in advance in writing.
Minimum Criteria:

- Be a current Member or Lifetime Member at the time of their appointment, and at all times during their term of office.
- Be able to communicate well in writing and orally in the English language.
- Not hold an elected position in another national or international renal care related association, society or similar organisation.
- Have the ability and approval to devote discretionary time to fulfil the obligations as the Journal Editor.
- Have the ability to use modern office software and electronic mail including word processing, spreadsheet and graphic presentation applications (specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- To work with Wiley/Blackwell publishers.
Recommended Qualifications: ideal candidate qualifications should include:
- Excellent use of the English language both written and spoken.
- Experience in the editing of a peer reviewed health care publication or related activity.
- Understanding of the publication processes, specifically related to editing, scientific terminology, proof reading, academic knowledge.
- Become a member of the Committee of Publication Ethics.
- Knowledge and understanding of the ISO 9000 guidelines that relate to quality publications
- Experience in administration and organisation as well as knowledge and skills in training and teaching.
- To be capable, through knowledge and teaching experience, to help authors produce and correct papers. This is important for those authors for whom English is not their 1st language.
- To be aware of the publication activities of related or similar specialised associations, educational and regulatory bodies and commercial organisations active in the renal care field world-wide.
- Be prepared to train to use Scholar 1 the on-line system for publications.
- Have an excellent understanding of renal care issues on a European basis.
- Have attained a high professional status within his/her renal care discipline.
- Be willing and competent to produce supplements –focusing on one topic. Liaising with Industry when necessary.
- Be able to attend meetings at Wiley/Blackwell when necessary.
Responsibilities Duties: the Journal Editor will:
- After careful review select suitable members for the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB).
- Select papers (with the input and assistance of the Journal Editorial Advisory Board when necessary) submitted for publication in the Journal of Renal care.
- Select reviewers with the appropriate corresponding knowledge to review papers.
- Encourage colleagues and named experts to submit papers for publication.
- Maintain effective liaison with the Executive Committee and attend all or part of Executive Committee meetings when requested.
- Seek official and professional recognition for the Association’s publications.
- To ensure that all authors of selected abstracts are properly informed about the possibility of submitting the paper for consideration of publication in the Journal of Renal Care, and about the conditions of publication (and ensure that these are updated on the web).
- To editorially review the manuscripts submitted and to communicate with the authors concerned, to ensure the manuscript complies with the published instructions to Authors.
- To make editorial comments or changes as necessary.
Rights
- Editor's expenses for Editorial activities and Conference attendance will be met as per the Association’s Finance Policies & Procedures.
- The Association will provide fixed compensation for the processing of each Journal issue. Any tax liability is the responsibility of the Editor.
- The Association will provide the technical equipment necessary for effective performance of Editorial activities.
Communication: the Journal Editor will:
- Keep in close contact with the publications manager in Blackwell, referring any matters concerning publications, advertising etc to him/her.
- Communicate with the EDTNA/ERCA EAB Members as necessary to discuss current Association business.
- Produce quarterly reports about the status of the Journal of Renal care prior to each Executive Committee meeting and other reports if requested. Reports to be sent to the Executive Committee Link with copy to the Secretariat.
Meetings:
The Journal Editor should organise and Chair at least one (1) organisational meeting with the EAB per year, preferably at the Conference. In addition the Journal Editor should expect to attend one (1) meeting with the Executive Committee at which the Annual Journal plan will be presented and discussed.
The Editor should arrange and attend meetings with Blackwell at least every 6 months but more frequently if necessary.
